Post-Election Thoughts, Scribbles and Preambles from De'Ara

I'm still processing this election but I do find myself going through photos and text messages - it gives me a little bit of solace but also joy. It's the kind of joy that I find in old and new friendships; in meeting one of a kind folks from across the country, and in people of different hues and experiences committed to the simple conviction of spreading love, kindness and equality. This photo in particular gives me the most joy of all - it's of two people who are dear to me - Siya and her mother Manjari. Both Siya's and Hillary's face say more about the moment than I can describe. This is a moment that Siya will not forget. One she will look back to you and draw upon the strength and resilience our Hillary ingrained in us to propel towards great justice and good, regardless of the barriers that lay ahead us. And, through Siya's journey, these words will always hold true:

"Now, I -- I know -- I know we have still not shattered that highest and hardest glass ceiling, but some day someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now...And -- and to all the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams." - Hillary
